I am a proud Virginian; born and raised in Fredericksburg, Virginia. I received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina with a Major in Sociology and a Minor in French Language and Culture. I also spent a semester studying at L’Universitè de Dijon as part of my university education. I have always been drawn to relationship oriented professions; but, I have found teaching to be the most rewarding career outside of being a wife and mother. I earned my Alternative Teaching Certification from Lone Star College-Kingwood and am certified in Texas to teach all subjects to students from Early Childhood to grade 6. In addition, I have earned a supplemental certification to teach English as a Second Language and am pursuing a Special Education certification as well. After teaching for Spring Independent School District, I began teaching English online through VIPKid to students in China. This opportunity allowed me to balance work and family more easily. My husband, Greg, and I are parents to five children - Emily, Clark, Taylor, Rosie, and Hayden. Hayden, who is diagnosed with autism, is also a student at Journey School. We enjoy Challenger Baseball, camping, and summer vacation on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. I love watching all of our Journey School students learn and grow every day. There isn’t a day without a victory or some obstacle (big or small) overcome. It is such a blessing to be a witness to all that God is doing here.
