Teacher

Specific responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans
  • track student progress
  • incorporate and implement goals set by parents and therapists
  • exercise classroom management and crisis prevention/intervention
  • creatively motivate students and engage students in a variety of ways
  • adapt instruction as needed to each student
  • maintain safe environment
  • communicate with administrators and parents daily
  • be punctual and available during working hours
  • work collaboratively with other professionals and staff
  • model correct use of oral and written language
  • model and promote empathy, compassion, and respect for gender, ethnic, religious, cultural, and learning - diversity of students

Substitute Teacher

The role of a Substitute Teacher is to:

  • Adhere to the curriculum and lesson plans assigned by the regular teacher.
  • Oversee students outside of the classroom including on the playground and in the cafeteria.
  • Comply with all school regulations and policies at all times.
  • Take attendance and document daily notes.
  • Ensure classroom and work is kept clean and orderly.
  • Oversee the normal classroom rhythms and activities.
  • Compile a report for the teacher for when he/she returns.

Paraprofessional

Specific responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • assist in the educational and social development of students under direction and guidance of teacher and therapists
  • assist in implementation and incorporation of goals and progression evaluation
  • provide individual support based on individual student’s needs
  • support students with emotional or behavior concerns and assist them in developing social skills
  • assist with curriculum/administrative preparation
  • model and promote empathy, compassion, and respect for gender, ethnic, religious, cultural, and learning diversity of students

Nurse

Specific responsibilities including but not limited to:
  • assist in the educational and social development of students under direction and guidance of teacher and therapists
  • assist in implementation and incorporation of feeding and toileting goals and progression evaluation
  • provide individual feeding and toileting/changing support based on individual student’s needs
  • assist with student’s personal hygiene needs
  • be punctual and available during working hours
  • work collaboratively with other professionals and staff
  • model correct use of oral and written language
  • model and promote empathy, compassion, and respect for gender, ethnic, religious, cultural, and learning diversity of students
  • attend staff/team meetings
  • provide medical attention to students as needed
  • administer medication to students based on the schedule given by the parents

Occupation Therapy or COTA

Speech Language Pathologist or SLPA

Behavior Support Team Member

Specific responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Provide onsite behavior assessment, support, prevention, and intervention
  • Meet with parents, teachers, paras, and students
  • Develop and implement behavioral services (such as counseling, classroom management/support, etc.)
  • Assist in setting behavioral goals and tracking student progress
  • Support teachers and paras during classroom activities, specials, field trips, parent conferences, etc.
  • Incorporate and implement goals set by parents
  • Collaborate with other therapists (Behavior, OT, Speech, etc.) and staff (teachers and paraprofessionals)
  • Creatively motivate students and engage students in various ways
  • Model and promote empathy, compassion, and respect for others
  • Attend staff/team meetings weekly
  • Assist with program and curriculum development as needed
  • Lead trainings as needed
  • Be punctual and available during working hours

We believe in using an eclectic, individualized approach that encompasses the view of the whole child, and that is: child-led, play-based, and involves meeting the child where they're at. We strive to connect with each child and meet their needs, and allow them to reach towards their next steps at their own pace.

Required:

  • At least 2 years experience working with children with special needs
  • Experience managing challenging behaviors in a home, school, counseling, clinical, church, or other community setting

Preferred:

  • Experience with ASL and/or communication devices
  • Experience working with children who have experienced trauma
  • Bachelors degree in psychology, counseling, child development, special education, or other related field
  • Working towards Master's degree or further certification/licensure
