My name is Dannye Petty. I am definitely considered an “old soul,” I like big band music and old black and white movies! My time off is spent with my daughter often on the front porch swing Andy Griffith style!
I love the work of Journey School! My daughter who has special needs attends here and it is a huge blessing to our life! I have been in some sort of child care since I was 13 years old. And care for people with special needs was also always a part of my life as I had a cousin with special needs that we cared for much of her life. When I was in my twenties I went to China to volunteer at a foster home for orphans with special needs. It changed me forever, and I am so thankful to have been a part of something so precious! I love the heart of Journey School, helping each student where they are! I long to help each student feel valued and loved, and help them to reach their own goals! One of my favorite things in the whole world is to see the light bulb moment for a student, whether it be mastering a new skill or simply the realization of their importance in our lives, it is a beautiful thing to be a part of! I am so thankful to be a part of so many precious lives!
